To have fun, share my love for the sport with my friends, and try not to die doing it.

Not yet.

What makes you tick as a climber and in the real world?

Love for the sport. It's hard to explain otherwise. Climbing demands complete focus in the present tense, which seems like a rare thing to achieve in the real world. Everything but the immediate moment, move, situation falls away during a crux. This is a precious thing, I think. Otherwise, adrenaline.

What drives you to climb? The money? The groupies? The fame? What?

Love. I absolutely love the way climbing makes me feel, the places it allows me to see, and the people it allows me to get to know.

Bones (I'm kind of skinny).

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep? Why?

I often have trouble sleeping. But, the longest I have gone without sleep was sixty hours, approximately, with Maxime Turgeon on the South Face of Mt. Foraker including the approach and return to basecamp after seeing Sue Nott and Karen McNeil for the last time.

If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?

Colorado (red is my favorite color)

What did you have for lunch yesterday?

A turkey sandwich, mustard - no mayo, lettuce, tomato, toasted everything bagel; four shot skinny latte.

If you could hook up a thought monitor to your head, would you see pictures, hear words or would music be playing?

Words. Definitely words. And, there would be ambient music too. Oh, and pictures, for sure. It would be an amalgam, I suppose.

What really scares you about climbing?

Losing friends.

Have no food or have no gasoline?

Of course I would rather have food than gasoline. Food has sustained us for millenia; gasoline for a mere 120 years or so.
