Do you clip bolts, plug cams, stack pads, or crush ice?

Mostly clipping the bolts, some plugging the cams and crashing on pads. I crush ice for my cocktail.

What are some of your lifetime climbing goals?

Establish a variety of new routes across the States, travel the mountains of the world, meet rad people and live to reminisce about it.

Do you have a claim to fame?

First American to eat a meal of sardines, frozen Snickers, Perrier and popcorn.

Do you have any vices?

I have an insatiable sweet tooth.

What makes you tick as a climber and in the real world?

Always having something to look forward to, and friends to share it with. Setting goals and busting my ass to achieve them.

What drives you to climb? The money? The groupies? The fame? What?

When I first began setting routes I thought signing my name 'JS' was lame, plus homeboy Justin Sjong was already well established in the area so I needed to pick something else. J-Star was the first thing I thought of and it seems to have stuck.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep? Why?

A few days, traveling to or in Asia no doubt. Heinous.

If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?

Colorado. The BEST!

What did you have for lunch yesterday?

An all you can eat buffet. It was DELICIOUS.

If you could hook up a thought monitor to your head, would you see pictures, hear words or would music be playing?

Maybe beta for my project, or Star Wars scenes, muppets, electronic music, mountains, colors, COOKIES!

What really scares you about climbing?

Aggressive competitive types. Hitting the ground is scary too.
