The Batura 2.0 GTX uses cutting edge proprietary two layer Gore® technology to create a boot that is warmer and more breathable for technical routes in the mountains.

I'd thought about onsight soloing it for a long time, basically since 2008 when I soloed Moonlight Buttress. It seemed to represent an ideal challenge - a secure style of climbing, difficult but not really cutting edge, and a manageable size - something I could get my head around.
On Friday September 23rd, 2011 at 6am I
would embark on a journey I had begun just 3 times before and had finished only
twice before. A 100-mile endurance run is something that shouldn’t be taken
lightly. Perhaps having had 3 previous experiences to weigh on my nerves was a
good thing.
According to the Awol Guide the Appalachian Trail is now 2,184.2 miles long for 2012. Each year diversions etc add a bit of distance to it. Just like Everest grows taller each year the AT grows longer. So the easiest time to do it is now. Not when you cash in your 401k.
Sean McColl competing in his first ever Hueco Rock Rodeo. Sean finished 3rd place at the rodeo with Jorg Verhoeven coming second and Daniel Woods taking the title. La Sportiva sweeps the podium!
In what is becoming one of my all-time favorite running shoes, the La Sportiva C-lite 2.0 (formerly the “Crosslite 2.0″) just about has it all: great fit, comfort, cushion, traction, relative lightness, and a simplicity that even my old Montrail Highlanders would be proud of, all wrapped up in a stylish design that says, “I’m serious. Accept it.” More...
Running mountains. There are lot of runners who enjoy getting out on the trails and running up to a high point before, turning back and returning to their busy lives. For many running a peak is more than just exercise, me included. I deeply enjoy running up mountains, it adds more to a run than simply traveling from point a to b, it adds a destination, a purpose. With the onset of aging taking hold and failure of joints unavoidable, I’m not quite sure what each season is going to bring. It is a fine line between training smart in order to race well or getting carried away with the training miles and intensity only to get sidelined with joint issues. It has taken some time but I have learned some valuable lessons in regard to my training and racing. More...
On April 12, 2012, I was caught and tumbled by an avalanche while skiing Mt. Superior in the Wasatch. I've added my thoughts below. More...
The Elk Mountains Grand Traverse has become an annual landmark for my husband Mark and I. Out of the eight times I have competed in this race from Crested Butte to Aspen, six have been with him. At 11 p.m. on March 30th we toed the starting line yet again, and I thought of all those races, all those years. More...
Last year I was fortunate to race in the World Championships in Europe, the birthplace of ski mountaineering. The elevation of the mountains there are about 3000 feet lower than ours but they are no less rugged. If anything they are more rugged considering they have glaciers and sheer rock walls. The main difference between racing here and racing in Europe is that the World Championship Race there included true mountaineering sections along rock ridges. More...

The finals were a perfect show with incredible problems. I must say that this was the best finals I have competed in. The problems were all different styles and certain ones suited different climbers.
With the recent growth in popularity of ultra marathons, there is great information available about all aspects of our sport. As a running coach I have noticed a few areas that people tend to benefit most from having objective guidance. Here are some things that you might want to incorporate in your own training.
