Mountain Cup #7 - Jemez Half Marathon

Stop seven for the 2012 La Sportiva Mountain Cup brings La Sportiva and competitors back to Los Alamos for the Jemez Half Marathon. The race takes place in the scenic Jemez mountains of Northern New Mexico. The course is on technical trails with a substantial amount of elevation change. On the course, runners will experience high altitude (over 10,000 feet above sea level), scree fields, stream crossings, fallen trees, and other obstacles. The course has numerous aid stations but there are some long stretches (greater than 5 miles). Runners are encouraged to strongly consider their comfort level on this type of terrain before registering. Talk about a Mountain run! See you there! More...

The PA Trail Dogs have struck gold with this course. It's a grueling 30K with over 5000 feet of elevation gain!!! Rothrock State Forest is full of single track trails with vistas, stream crossings, extreme elevation changes, and a maze of boulders and cliffs. Voted as one of the ten best trail races in the country by La Sportiva's Mountain Cup Race Series. This is trail running at its best!!! The race will proceed 6.3 miles up the Barr Trail gaining 3,630′ where it will turn around at Barr Camp at 10,200′.
