ABOUT ME:

I moved to Boulder from Akron, OH in the summer of 1988 for school and because I wanted to ski more. I then found climbing: another reason to want to be outside. Who would have known that I would build my life around climbing - fortunate. La Sportiva shoes have literally been there since the beginning and will be there until the end.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I have two wonderful (adult) children.
I have two (so far) wonderful granddaughters.
In March of 2014, I free-soloed (without leashes) all of the main ice features in East Vail: over 1000' of ice. Unrepeated.
In April of 2020, I did the 1st ascent of Goliath: M13+ in East Vail. IMO, the King line in the amphitheater. Unrepeated.
I am very close to sending Saphira: M14-. I will be the oldest person to climb this route and the first grandfather to do so.

Q+A:

Who is your favorite climbing partner?

My wife, most certainly. She's my best friend, she's got a great sense of humor, and I know she's got my back. She's always down to go climbing and almost always down to go skiing. She keeps running for herself.

What is your go to hype song?

"Remember the Name" by Fort Minor

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

My first pair of climbing shoes were the Mariachers. I got them from the Boulder Mountaineer in August of 1988.

Which charity/advocacy organizations do you support or belong to?

The American Alpine Club, The Access Fund, Eagle County Climbing Coalition.
