Jerome St-Michel

ABOUT ME:

Jerome was born in Saint-Agapit, Quebec, and currently resides in Montreal, Quebec where he works as a civil engineer. His passion and motivation for climbing seem to be unlimited. Whether it's for a committing ice climb, a pumpy sport route, or an obscure flaring finger crack, you might find him doing repeaters at the gym, or rope soloing at an unknown crag on a Friday night to get ready for his next project. As a rock climber, Jerome loves crack climbing, but practices every form of climbing, including sport climbing, ice, and mixed climbing and bouldering.

Q+A:

Who is your favorite climbing partner?

I have several partners that are suitable for a wide range of adventures, similarly to the way you'd pick specific footwear for a specific climb. That said, my favorite partner has to be Guillaume Michaud. We get along so well because of our complementary skills. Plus, he is a surgeon which allows me to think he can fix me if anything ever happens.

What is your go-to hype song?

Black Sabbath - Master of Reality

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

TC Pro’s were my first performance shoes.

Which charity/advocacy organizations do you support or belong to?

I am a board member of "Ça me dit de grimper", a non profit collective project aimed at supporting young people in difficulty from less well-off communities of the Laurentians through outdoor intervention.
