ABOUT:

Michael is a ski mountaineer and mountain runner who grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley and now splits his time between Carbondale, CO and Mazama, WA. The reason I go to the mountains is simple: there’s a sense of lightness I find in both mind and body when moving in the mountains well – a movement carries forth, my mind quiets and the world clarifies. I love La Sportiva because of quality in craftsmanship and resolute attention to detail, which are clearly driven to make movement in the mountains as seamless as possible.

Who is your favorite climbing/running/skiing partner and why?

Skiing - Victor Major. Although we've only done one big mission together, our risk assessment and innate understanding of place are in line.
Running - Jeff Colt. Jeff is an endless ball of supportive and genuine energy.
