Davide Giardini

Discipline: Skiing Team

ABOUT ME:

Davide is originally from Lake Garda, Italy, a multisport heaven for cycling, skiing, wind sports, and climbing in the heart of the Italian Alps.

Competing at the highest level of sports has always been part of Davide's life: he competed on the European FIS alpine ski racing circuit all over the Alps, won a New England regional title in alpine skiing, competed in freestyle windsurfing world-cup events in the Canary Islands, swam D2 in college, competed on the SUP Surf World Tour in Hawaii, and raced 5 years as a professional triathlete, achieving dozens of podiums, 3 wins, and a World Championship top 10.

In recent years since retiring from pro triathlon he transitioned to being an elite ski mountaineer, achieving podium finishes at the US Skimo Sprint National Championship and at the Breckenridge Five Peaks skmo race, top 5 at the prestigious Aspen Power of Four, and qualifying for the 2021/2022 US Skimo National Team, and is a regular at the mid-week Nighthawks skimo races at Eldora and Rise and Shine at A-Basin.

In 2021 he founded the Boulder Skimo Club, to bring the local Boulder, CO uphill ski community together, grow the sport’s participation, introduce summer-focused endurance athletes (cyclists, runners, triathletes) to the benefit of winter & spring uphill skiing, and help foster the US Skimo Association in light of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

1. Currently working in my dream job of sharing my passion for cycling & the multisport lifestyle with the local Boulder community
2. Having achieved my goal of making a living through my passion for multisport, and having travelled the world by means of racing: it was a crazy time of my life, but I still can't believe the places that swimming, biking, and running in spandex has taken me!
3. Having found a new fire in life pursuing uphill skiing and mountain endurance sports both as a personal athletic challenge (nothing is more challenging and rewarding than pushing up a mountain in the thin air), but also as a greater challenge to introduce endurance athletes to the mountain endurance multisport lifestyle.
4. Athletically, my proudest results are: having dozens of fastest swims, first off the bike, and fastest bike splits at pro triathlon races around the world (I lived for the rush of leading a race from the gun, amongst screaming fans, in the oddest places in the world), top 10 at the ITU Long Course World Championship in triathlon, sub 2 hour bike split at IRONMAN 70.3 Texas), and assisting Dave Scott (6x IRONMAN World Champion) in coaching his triathlon camp at the Four Seasons in Hawaii.

Q+A:

Who is your favorite skiing partner?

Will Nabours. We've been friends and training partners for over 10 years: we met on the CU Triathlon Team, and while I turned pro in triathlon, Will was racing Cat 1-2 pro in cycling. Sharing hours of training together and a huge endurance base during those days make us great partners for skimo spring missions.

What is your go-to hype song?

An old school rock-pop-rap band from my yourh growing up in Italy. Domani Smetto, by Articolo 31

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

Cyklon run shoes. I love Boas in everything (ski boots, running shoes, cycling shoes), so I couldn't pass the opportunity to try them.

Which charity/advocacy organizations do you support or belong to?

I am on the Board of the US Skimo Sport & Performance Committee, and I founded the Boulder Skimo Club. My goal is to make uphill skiing more accessible and to introduce local endurance athletes to mountain endurance sports and uphill skiing.
