ABOUT:

My name's Emmeline, and I was born and raised in Fremont, California. In my late twenties, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to pursue my passion for playing in the mountains. It was the best decision I've made as the access to the mountains has never been closer, and I got to see how big of a gap there was regarding diversity and inclusion in the outdoors. As a daughter of immigrant parents and a self-identifying LGBTQ+ Asian-American rock climber, my dream has been to see more folx of color and from the LGBTQ+ community take up space in the outdoors, especially in the alpine. I'm so stoked to be a part of the La Sportiva Team to further my work in advocating for our environment, diversity in the outdoors, and to represent the best climbing shoe company out there!

Who is your favorite climbing/running/skiing partner and why?

My fiancé and soon-to-be wife, Joanne Yeung! She's my ultimate adventure partner, best friend, and partner in climbing and life. When she's got me on the opposite end of the rope, I know I'm fully supported and can push my limits without fear.

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

My first pair of La Sportiva shoes was the Tarantulace. It's a gym workhorse-- it carried me through my first year of gym climbing, and I remember climbing my very first indoor V6 in them!
