ABOUT ME:

Made in Texas, grown in Colorado, blended in Bleau, seasoned in Switzerland, stationed in the Sierra. Been pining for the mountains since I'd sleep with the window open after watching what I think was a National Geographic Explorer episode in the 80's from a harsh Texas Hill Country autumn climate.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I always find these things hard to list... comparison is the thief of joy, someone once said. I'll take a shot though and say climbing Karma in Fontainebleau around March 2004, as it was my first Life-List project. After that, a tie between Duel and the Big Island, in a type-2 fun kinda way, somewhere about March 2012 and January 2014. A big one for me was a long term project up Boulder Canyon: the FA of the Right, which I finished after a 7-year effort and not too long after I did my first v15. Likely the hardest, and one of the scariest problems I've done. I'm pretty pleased with a couple of FAs I've done in the last couple of months too I gotta admit. Apart from all that, I'm humbled to have been asked to D.C. a few times to work with policy makers on supporting climbing and public lands. I'm also greatly honored by a few publications and editors who reach out to me now and again for some work or an opinion on various topics and events.

Q+A:

Who is your favorite climbing/running/skiing partner and why?

I'm definitely my favorite climbing partner, harshest critic, best friend, worst enemy, and more. I'll spend my whole life with myself, so it's best we get along.

What is your go-to hype song?

HA! depends... I have a WIDE variety of music I listen to, though lately I've been especially keen on revisiting the Moody Blues or some of the Ventures.

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

The La Sportiva Mirage of the late 90s/turn of the century! One of the very first very downturned shoes, this thing was absolutely futuristic! I immediately felt like a French sport climber on the little sandstone crags of southern Colorado.

Which charity/advocacy organizations do you support or belong to?

Outdoor Alliance, the American Alpine Club, Access Fund, Friends of Indian Creek, Friends of Joshua Tree, Yosemite Climbing Association, Northern Colorado Climbers Coalition, Boulder Climbing Community

APE INDEX:

+2.5" ape index, growing ever more as my spine compresses further lol
