ABOUT:

Ty fell in love with endurance sport as a teenager and never looked back. Since his first days as a scrawny high school cross country runner in Concord, MA, he has developed into a multi-time World Record Holder, a US National Champion, and a World Championship Silver Medalist. As a full-time mountain athlete, La Sportiva has been crucial in providing Ty with the perfect gear for moving quickly through the mountains.

Q&A:

Who is your favorite running partner and why?

My friends Scott and Conor are my go-to climbing/running buddies. Both of these gentlemen are not only some of only folks who can similarly handle abrupt changes in altitude, but are always down for a spontaneous (and often dumb) idea for an adventure. (e.g. "Want to go to Kilimanjaro next week?") Most importantly, I know we will make each other laugh way too much and keep the expedition vibes positive.

What is your go-to hype song?

Anything from the Hamilton soundtrack

What was the first La Sportiva product you tried?

I first tried the G2SMs when I decided to invest in a pair of big-mountain boots for some 6000-7000m technical climbing in the Andes. I was totally blown away by how warm they were and yet how light they felt on my feet compared the clunky old boots I'd had!

Which charity/advocacy organizations do you support or belong to?

I'm a board member of the Chaski Foundation (501c3), which helps empower young athletes around the world, specifically in the Andes, through local coaching and training programs.
